Babette, Enola, Titus – new registrations for Norika

26. February 2026

Three new varieties were approved for Norika in March 2026. With Babette (early, waxy) and Enola (early, predominantly waxy), Norika has two further table varieties at its disposal, while Titus is a processing potato for the French fries segment.

As the successor to Goldmarie, Babette sets new accents in the firm-boiling segment for Norika. As an early variety, it has a good appearance with a smooth skin. Other special properties include very low boiling and raw pulp discoloration and very good PVY resistance combined with very good resistance to iron staining.

Enola is early and predominantly waxy. As an early variety, it also has a good appearance with a smooth skin. Special features are the very low boiling and raw pulp discoloration as well as the very good PVY resistance in combination with a very low tendency to black spotting.

With Titus, Norika has another early variety for the French fries sector alongside the Primus variety. The variety produces uniform, long tubers and has very good yield potential, especially in the early stages. The variety also has very good processing properties and an interesting dormancy and storage suitability for the early segment.
